Ian Hunter

Managing Director

When Ian finished university in 1989 in the UK he followed the family tradition and went into the oil industry. After 6 years working offshore in the North Sea he called it a day and went to business school in the States. He then moved to New Zealand as he thought it was a great place to have an adventure, over 15 years the adventure continues….

Ian has always worked in manufacturing business making successful brands. When he purchased Canterbury Leather at Easter 2009 it was the fulfillment of a long held goal to run his own business. Since then it has been a great experience growing and evolving the business. It’s awesome to be able to work with your own brands and grow markets for them around the world!

Ian has a passion for anything with two wheels – mountain bikes or motorcycles.



Market Services Manager

When you ring our business the chances are you’ll talk to Graham. He’s our Market Services Manager and looks after all our day to day customer needs. Beyond talking to our customers Graham looks after many of the key tasks that make things “tick” from a “meeting the customers needs” perspective. He is very knowledgeable about all our products, so is a mine of information.

He cycles to work every day and always has a tale to tell about “dicing with the car drivers” on our earthquake damaged roads in Christchurch.


Barry Jaundrell

Product Development Manager

When Barry first started working here, he had a full head of hair! Now …..that was a long time ago! Over the years he has worked in most areas of the business, but the last 10 have been in product development, design, footwear pattern making and digital graphics.

He's the guy you can present a rough sketch of your product concept to. From this he gets the sample made, puts the info in place so the factory can make it and ensures that we make a profit on the new style!

Also a lover of good wine and coffee, he managed to find a cheap espresso machine on ‘Trade Me’ so he didn’t have to drink instant coffee at work.

Chris – Accounts Administrator

Chris is our accounts administrator and looks after a multitude of stuff in the background that makes the business tick.

Outside work Chris is a full time mum and an accomplished long distance runner, having competed in the Kepler Challenge 5 years in a row (a 62km Mountain Marathon around the Kepler Track).



 Production Manager

Martyn is the guy who makes it all happen from a production perspective. It takes a pretty unique person to lead the production team as well as Martyn does. He’s been working in the business since he left school which was over 30 years ago and has worked in almost every part of the factory in his time here. During the course of a regular week he turns his hand to most things around the factory.

Martyn is a very accomplished golfer at the weekend and also has a real passion for motorcycles.
